In the musical, while Doctor Dillamond teaches his class (which includes Elphaba, Galinda, Nessarose and Boq), shortly after teaching on the beginnings of the prejudice against Animals, he flips his chalkboard, which has been vandalized with saying: "ANIMALS SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD".
