Carol Kane was the original Madame Morrible for the First National Tour, the Lost Angeles, and the San Francisco cast. She also played Madame Morrible on Broadway.

History

Kane was part of the original cast of the First National Tour, which opened on March 21, 2005. She was replaced by Carole Shelley on December 21, 2005.

Kane went to Broadway to replace Rue McClanahan on January 10, 2006. She was replaced by Jayne Houdyshell on November 14, 2006.

Kane was part of the original Los Angeles cast, which opened on February 21, 2007. She was replaced by Jo Anne Worley on January 8, 2008. She returned to the role on August 26, 2008, replacing Jo Anne Worley, and was part of the closing cast, which closed on January 11, 2009.

She was part also part of the original San Francisco cast, which opened on February 6, 2009. She was replaced by Patty Duke on March 24, 2009.

Kane returned to the Broadway production on July 1, 2013, as part of the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway production. 

Awards

Kane has earned two Emmy Awards, one for the Primetime Award for Outstanding Lead Actress - Comedy Series 1982 and the other for the Primetime Award for Oustsanding Supporting Actress - Comedy Series 1983, for her work in Annie Hall. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Hester Street.
